New Tax Advocacy Group Enters Fray

Here's the text of a news release that landed in my email box today:

The Charlottesville Taxpayers Association will hold a press conference on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the East end of the downtown mall.

The Charlottesville Taxpayers Association is an informal group of citizens who have come together to promote the interests of the taxpayers of the City of Charlottesville consistent with the principles of effective and efficient local government.

The Association is dedicated to providing factual tax and budget information to the citizens of Charlottesville.

The purpose of the press conference is to provide information about the organization and to provide some preliminary comments about the proposed Fiscal Year 2006 budget for the City of Charlottesville.

For more information, you may visit our web site at www.cvilletaxpayers.org.

This group looks like a force to reckon with in the annual debate about Charlottesville's tax-and-spend profligacy.
